Helix Standard Mat – Ground cover by the metre

The Helix mat creates an instant ground covering solution. Sold in 1mtr square sections it is a quick and simple method for soil stabilization, or simply just greening up difficult areas such as awkward amenity spaces, road side embankments and steep slopes, where maintenance of a grassed bank would be difficult, time consuming and dangerous to access.

The carefully chosen plants are equivalent to a 1ltr pot root ball size and are grown for 16 weeks on a coconut fibre mat base with a mulch layer included, so weed growth is minimal.

When purchased the roots are already well established in the vegetation mat. They are then pegged to the bank using a metal pegging system to hold them in place. The mats then need watering for 21 days, producing a very pleasing end result.

The specific plants we have chosen are Lonicera pileata, Hedera hibernica and Symphoricarpos albus, providing excellent instant ground cover, colour and foliage. Almost all other ground cover shrubs and perennials are available with a 3-4 month lead time if required.
