The Wall planter

Living Walls/Green walls

Are an exciting development in sustainable construction and environmental engineering, providing eye level, vertical greening with a structural and self sustaining support system. They provide facade greening, creating contemporary living vertical architecture in urban environments. Many of the world's existing installations appear to be primarily motivated by art, and the visual impact they provide. This is important but we believe there are sound ecological reasons to install green walls. The plants absorb CO2 emissions, helping to reduce global warming. The Green Wall at the 02 Arena for example is one of the largest green walls currently in the UK.

Key facts

• 65 shoots of Ivy, typically Helix Woerner, evergreen, most suited to the British climate. Each screen is rooted in and grown to the full height required before installation.

• Supplied in attractive ship grade aluminium planters which incorporate a 10mm drainage matting, this prevents possible blocking of the drainage system by the plant roots.

• The planters are insulated for both heat and cold, and have the volume to protect the roots from either eventuality.

• In built irrigation / fertigation installed and maintained.

• The dense foliage encourages biodiversity, this can be further enhanced by the use of bird, bat and insect boxes, which can be completely hidden from public view.
